This is me, Lila — a journalism student, music lover, escape-room enthusiast and fashion girl who is still figuring out her own style. I’m always looking for my next adventure, whether that’s discovering a new place, finding a new favourite song or trying something completely different with my wardrobe.

If you had asked me a few years ago whether I would be writing about fashion, I probably would have laughed.

Fashion wasn’t always something I felt connected to. In fact, it took me a long time to figure out what I actually liked, what suited me and, most importantly, what felt like me. I’m still figuring that out — and I think that’s part of the fun.

I’m currently a third-year Journalism student at the University of Derby, working towards a career in fashion and PR. Writing has always been something I’ve enjoyed, but over time I’ve found myself becoming increasingly drawn to the world of fashion, lifestyle and the stories behind the brands and trends we see every day.

For me, fashion became about much more than clothes.

Growing up, I wasn’t always the most confident person. Finding my own style gave me a way to express parts of myself that I didn’t always know how to put into words. Wearing something a little different, experimenting with styles and stepping outside of what might be considered “normal” slowly helped me become more comfortable with who I am.

And I think that’s what I love most about fashion — there really are no rules.

Your clothes can say something about you before you’ve even spoken. They can reflect your mood, your personality, where you’ve been and even where you want to go.

But fashion is only one part of what I love.

I’m also a huge lover of lifestyle content. I love travelling, discovering new places, finding skincare products that actually work, exploring different cultures and, of course, finding inspiration along the way.

One of the things I find most exciting about travelling is seeing how differently people approach fashion and style around the world. Every country has its own influences, trends and relationship with clothing. Being able to experience those differences — and write about them — is something I’d love to explore more through this blog.

So, what is this blog about?

Quite simply: fashion, lifestyle and everything in between.

You can expect trend reports, styling ideas, fashion features, lifestyle pieces, travel inspiration, beauty and skincare discoveries, and my own experiences as I continue figuring out my personal style.

I also want to use this space to explore the stories behind different brands. From discovering smaller independent labels to looking at the campaigns and ideas behind bigger names, I’ll be dipping my toes into fashion writing and PR while building my own portfolio.

And, of course, there will be a little bit of me in it too.

This isn't going to be a perfectly curated version of my life. I’m still discovering my style. I’m still learning. I’m still working out exactly where I want my career to take me.

But maybe that’s what makes it worth writing about.

I want this blog to be a place where I can document that journey — from discovering clothes that make me feel confident, to travelling somewhere new, finding a skincare favourite, discovering a brand I love or simply having an idea I want to write about.

So, welcome.

I loved investigating stories, asking questions and getting to the bottom of things. Journalism always felt like the obvious path for me, and when I started university, I imagined myself eventually working in crime journalism. Fashion journalism wasn't really part of the plan.
